Many of you may know that Toyooka City in Hyogo Prefecture is a production area of bags with a long history.
However, the difference between "Toyooka Kaban®" and "Toyooka Seikan" is probably not well known.
This time, I would like to introduce the difference easily.
There is no fixed logo or mark for Toyooka Seikan.
This is an explanation that indicates the production area, and bags produced in Toyooka City apply here.
On the other hand, "Toyooka Kaban®" is a brand that symbolizes the local industry of Hyogo Prefecture, which has its origins in ancient Japanese wickerwork that has continued since the Nara period and has continued to inherit the tradition to the present day.
This is a registered trademark of the Hyogo Prefecture Bag Industry Association, which was recognized as a regional collective trademark by the Patent Office in 2006.
Just because a bag is made in Toyooka City doesn't mean that all products can be called "Toyooka Kaban".
It is limited to products produced by companies that meet certain standards set by the Hyogo Prefecture Bag Industry Association, and only those products that pass the examination are certified as the Toyooka Kaban® brand.
By the way, there are about 18 companies currently certified as "Toyooka Kaban".
Everyone is welcome to visit shops and other places to find out whether it is Toyooka Kaban or Toyooka Kaban®.
Check it out.
